Commonwealth Games Batton 2014
To commemoriate the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Upholland Blacksmiths was commisioned to create a bespoke metal planter in the shape of a batton.
Funding for the planting was generously given by the Co-operative Community Fund, and watering was funded by Lowri Beck.
Everglades Nurseries in Ulnes Walton, Euxton were commissioned to plant the batton with perennials for sustanability, with a selection of annuals to add summer colour.
Plants used include Crocosmia Lucifer, Begonia, Kniphofia (Red Hot Pocker) and Senecio cineraria (Silver Leaf).
